People see that there are so many with the label "Christian" and that some of these people truly do bad things.

I don't think that some churches have this as a high enough priority. And some churches have this at too high a priority.

Tough to find balance!MInTheGaphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16683964072100102242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5946954274619436225.post-71700557908538573342008-09-21T15:45:00.000-07:002008-09-21T15:45:00.000-07:00I was reading about this very same thing today (di...I was reading about this very same thing today (different part of the Bible, though)! :)

I think 1 Thess 5:14 helps with this a lot: "And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone." Paul gives us instructions on how to deal with different kinds of people - warn those who are idle (Greek word actually means disorderly - but you'd probably know that from your KJV ;)), encourage the timid, and help the weak. Overall be patient to all. We can apply these principles to anyone we meet. You shouldn't go to everyone preaching fire and brimstone because not everyone will respond to that. The stubborn and hardheaded might need that, but someone who is sensitive and well, timid (why try to improve on the Word?) will need encouragement.

Great post. Keep 'em coming!

Counting the days till Saturday! SO glad you guys want to go to the zoo! :) As long as it doesn't interfere with Saints or LSU, right? ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
