5K survival

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we did it. We ran our first 5k. Our time was not what I had hoped, but it wasn't too bad, either. But the most important thing? We did it!



Before the race. Before we died.

S, with the pink hat, did not run with us, and Christina, beside her on the left, passed me and Rindy within the first mile. I am told that our route led us through some of the prettiest homes in the city. I'm not really sure. I was looking constantly for mile markers.

The race was for cancer research, though somewhere between Mile 2 and 3, Rindy and I were literally shouting that we were racing for pancakes. And orange juice. And coffee. And eggs. All from IHOP. A lady running next to us cheered.

But we did finish.



Some very sweet women were waiting on the other side of the finish line with water for us. They handed me a bottle, and the first words after I finished my first 5k were to that woman as I said, "I LOVE YOU."

Rindy was right after me.



And, yes, we did get our pancakes.



I hear rumors that another 5K is taking place next month. I'm ready!
