Pedestrians

Some of these pedestrians think they have a force field around them... -- Anonymous Journalism Student

It was a good morning. Snickerdoodle coffee (breaking the Monday mold, I decided on a whim to have it on Wednesday), Bible study, and even time to read some of Francine Rivers' Lineage of Grace series (I have all five in one book -- right now I'm reading Tamar's story.). And, to continue my happy morning as I drove to work (aka The Place Where Happiness Dies), I turned my iPod to Trans Siberian Orchestra's "That Christmas Day." Which will be playing on my blog, probably next week. It's fairly fabulous.

I had the volume turned up aaaalllllllll the way as I swerved through the curves of our insane, construction-ridden parking lot. And almost hit a student.

This is twice in two days I've come close to hitting a student. And today it was a student that I liked!! Seriously, though, these students act like no cars are coming (and, granted, at the beginning of their collegiate career, they are told that cars are supposed to stop for them...and vehicles should...but sometimes, in the dead of night, it's hard to see students wearing all black!). There are rumors circulating on campus that if you get hit by a car, you get straight As that semester, and I think some of these pedestrians are going for the As. Hate to break their little hearts (and bones), but that's nothing more than an urban legend. If you get hit by a car, you're on your own.

Anyway, after I joked with the student that she better watch out because I have been known to almost hit people (like her), I got to thinking...would I truly be upset if I hit (with my car) a student that I did not like?

.....

Thinking...

......

...It might damage my car...

...And the police, after finding out that I didn't like a student I hit, would probably classify it as attempted murder, not accidental hit and run (because, in this scenario, it would be a hit and run)...

...And there'd probably be a fine, and my insurance would go up...

...And my poor car's not good with accidents, as we have learned from oh so many experiences...

...So...no...I think I'll try to refrain from hitting any students, liked or disliked.

(Police, please note that this entire blog is written tongue in cheek and with all sarcasm available, and I in no way wish ill on any person.)

there is a crosswalk in the middle of town and my mom has almost his a 100 year old man twice! he goes to our church and lives downtown.

not sure which of them isn't looking!

as for the 2 pounds - that's awesome. and who cares if its not more. the dress size is totally more important. i want to switch to gauging that way, i just can't get up the scale compulsion.

The way I figure it is if they're dumb enough to be walking where cars are driving through, they deserve what they get! : ) And so much the more if they almost ruin what was starting out as a perfectly wonderful day!

Too funny.

My hubby wants to go see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. (I don't even know if I just wrote their name correctly!) It's one of those days.

We live in a college town, and I'm always surprised when I go on campus how the students have the right of way and walk right in front of cars. Glad you haven't hit anyone - you do seem the dangerous type!

We used to live acroos the road from the local highschool, junior high, and sixth grade school, all in a row. I have nearly hit so many students it's ridiculous. And the haughty attitudes they display as I stand on my brakes, heart pounding, it was enough to make me wish (almost, for just a split second) that I hadn't hit the brakes quite so hard, and maybe--just maybe--bumped into them, just a little, just enough to put a little fear into them.
