I may have lost my mind, but we'll see...

I've (tentatively) decided to run a half-marathon.

Those of you who know me, go ahead and laugh. It's okay, promise.

I'm totally obsessed with the idea of running a half-marathon right now. I found a training program, and I'm trying to recruit everyone I know into running it for me. So far I've gotten six nos and two maybes. No yeses? Please? ;)

I found this half-marathon (there's a whole one, too, but, seriously, there's no way I'm running a full marathon; a halfie is stretching it), which is taking place in New Orleans on Feb. 28, 2010.

Anyone interested? I know we've got some runners out there...

I actually have not registered for it yet. I'm going to start training next week, and if I make it through two full weeks, then I'll sign up.

I can barely run a mile without stopping. This is going to be the most intensive exercise I've ever put my body through, but I do figure I can drink more mochas than I do now...

(Is it sad that one of the main reasons I exercise is to counteract the ice cream, cookies, and mochas that I intake?)

So who's with me? New Orleans...Febuary...blogger runners unite?

Check yes or no. ;)

Good for you! You should go for it. It doesn't matter that you can barely run a mile now--if you're training all this time you'll definitely be ready for it.

BTW, I didn't think there was another reason for exercise except to allow a person to eat whatever they wanted. Why else would they do it? LOL

Too far away my dear. What if I run one near here...at the same time...would that still be encouraging to you? I'll pray at the very least. I was planning on a 5k but you might talk me into it...maybe...

Like I told your husband... I'll be waiting at the finish line with boiled shrimp! :)

You go, Girl! I ran my first half last October here in CT and it was an incredible experience! I used Hal Higdon's training program and thought it was excellent! I am planning to do the Boston full in April.

Do it!! Even if you have to do it alone. The sense of accomplishment is so strong, plus you'll be in great shape!

I'm so proud of you!

I think you should sign up even before your two weeks are up - it will keep you motivated and make it less easy to quit. I'm just speaking out of my own experience. Not that I've run a half-mary. I can't - I get to use the excuse of my runner's knee injury. Although, can you tell me how I got runner's knee without running? :P

I'm still thinking about it. And, yes I'm going to blog about it. Just wish you lived closer so that we could really train together. Don't know how much gumption I'll have on my own.

I may link you tomorrow.

If I did it, it wouldn't be because I lost my mind, but because I wanted to lose my behind! LOL!

GOOD LUCK!

This is tempting! New Orleans isn't too far of a drive, but it's during my busy season at work! I know you can do it and hope that you got my email w/ information and tips!
