Caffeinated Randomness: Training Day 13

I love the way I feel after running, even if I’m collapsed on the floor, unable to move and hoping not to pass out (which happened Wednesday). I love feeling like I can eat more “treats” (mochas, ice cream, etc.) now than before and not really gain weight. I love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I reach my goals – this week I ran a mile in 11:23 and three miles in 35:33.

However, I HATE the way my calves are starting to look.

They are HUGE. My thighs, which didn’t start hurting until this week, are getting more toned, too. Granted, I am glad that the massiveness is from muscle and not fat, but…DANG. How big can they get?

And, almost ironically, when Rindy and I ran Tuesday night, I whined about how sad I was that my arms weren’t defined. Hers were because at her job, she lifts heavy boxes. So she has muscles in her arms. Me, not so much.

That was Tuesday…

Turns out when I run, I clench my fists together and move my arms back and forth. Turns out that on Thursday, I discovered that I have arm muscles. No, they’re not as cool as Rindy’s, but they’re there. And I was excited (even though Superman pretended to peer through his glasses to see my new guns).

I signed up for my first 5K. It’s a Run for the Cure or something like that. My big goal is that I’ll finish it in 30 minutes. My secondary goal is to finish it in 35:00. I could do that now, I believe, but I’m hoping to shed time in the next two weeks.

P.S. Yesterday was the bestest (yes, I pulled out the “bestest”) anniversary ever. Superman cooked my favorite food – chicken Verona – and had it waiting for me with candles lit on the dining room table. AND to make it even better, we ate in sweatpants and then moved to the living room for some Bridezillas and Mad Men. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I had a fantastic anniversary. =) And, to make it even better, we’re going back to that super awesome cooking school in three weeks! AND staying at the super duper hotel, too.

Four years, and it just keeps getting better!

Go go girl with all your running! My flabby arms are toning up a bit lifting my 30 pound boys. Nothing like going from lifting no weight to 30 pounds for instant arm soreness....

I'm scared of you right now. You're a monster.

I haven't been running because of the P90X. I'm a little concerned I won't be able to run afterwards due to lack of running. We'll see.

Cracking up that Superman looked through his glasses. He's so mean sometimes!

Sorry I didn't call/email to wish you happy anniversary! The last two days have been super busy AND my phone has been on the verge of dying. I need to call you back about your ?. :)

So all that to say, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I admire you for running...really. A few years back, I got into running. It took me like 6 month to work up to running for 30 minutes straight. That's how wimpy I am. I ran for about a year or so and it shed fat like nothing I've ever done. It's was awesome! Then I had a little heart episode and it scared me out of running. Seriously. I just started last week, but I only can run for like a block and then it's walking. I think it's so great that you're running the 5K. Blow them away!

Glad you had an awesome anniversary! It sounded like the perfect evening.

I host a meme on Friday called 5 Things Friday. This week is 5 Favorite Travel Tips.

I also wanted to invite you to join me for my on-line Bible study on the book of Ephesians entitled High Stepping for Heavenly Places.

My study for MOMS is non-denominational, and designed to help MOMS of toddlers, tweens, teens, and all the way through turning 'em loose! You will be able to view my 45 minute lectures on-line, as well as download my PODCASTS at no cost. My 192-page workbook will be available on Friday at www.jeanstockdale.com for $15.00 but is optional and not required to participate. Homework and on-line discussion will be a part of this study which will provide accountability, small group interaction with other MOMS, and tons of Biblical truth peppered with sanctified humor and personal illustrations. I would be honored to be able to invest in your life and bless your family as you develop the fine art of Christian mothering. Please invite any of my MOMMY friends to join in as well.
