Flip flops and pageant flops

Linda is hosting the Flip Flop Frenzy, and today is the day to show off our beautiful new flip flops! My flip flop match was Tiffany, and THESE are the beautiful shoes I received in the mail!

Aren't they adorable???

Also, I just want to mention something that is RIDICULOUS. Has anyone heard about the craziness around the Miss USA contest -- specifically with Miss California (click on "Miss California" to take you to a news story on the subject)?

Okay, a quote from the story: "'This is why we have judges at Miss USA, so we find the girl to rep us ALL,' Moakler Twittered after the pageant."

Wait, WHAT? I am SORRY (okay, so I'm NOT), but if the new Miss USA supports g*y marriage, then she is not supporting ME.

I have a whole rant about marriage and what it means to me and in general, but, you know, that's not the point here. THIS is my issue I take with all the backlash Carrie Prejean (Miss Calif.) has received: For her not to receive the crown because of her viewpoints is prejudiced. It's prejudiced against the people against g*y marriage, and it's prejudiced against individual viewpoints. How DARE people say one person cannot be conservative? Have we as a country truly gotten to the point where we are about to berate people for their opinions?

She lost the crown because of her Biblical comments. It's just utterly ridiculous. You can disagree with my opinions, and you and I can have a logical, intelligent debate on the subject, but I will NOT be silent just because I feel differently!

Superman and I were talking about the Miss USA pageant this morning, and we agreed that while Miss Prejean is not Miss USA, some things are more important than winning the crown.

Love your flip flops!

I was so upset yesterday as I watched this on the Today Show. If they didn't want someone to answer the question truthfully and honestly they shouldn't have asked it. Did you see where that guy said if she woulda won he would have walked on stage and took it from her?

Pageant political correctness is really too much! So many more important things to focus on in today's unstable world.

On a much lighter note, LOVE those flip flops! You wear them well:)

Gark on anything resembling PC-ness.

Do those orange fringed flops come in a 10W? :)

Ok, I'll get to how cute your flip-flops are but first....PREACH, girl! I got chills reading this - this whole thing makes me so dern angry. It is so sad how one-sided this whole thing is...how they can get by with ranting and raving and calling her names...but when the conservative side stands up for what is right and for what we believe, we get labeled intolerant. I agree - what she did was far more important than winning the crown.

Ok! Whew.

Your new flip-flops are lovely! Love the color...and I REALLY love your toes! :)

Amen! I too caught some news on Miss California. Free speech and opinions are fine as long as they're politically correct. WHY???

It's just not right.

I disagree here. I think that that kind of political viewpoint is very oppressive. If I were an American I wouldn't want someone who was against gay marriages representing my country. I think that gay marriage doesn't effect anyone except the people involved in the marriage. We may think that this is just another political viewpoint today but I feel this topic is along the same caliber as civil rights.

The flip flops are adorable!

I saw just enough of the Miss USA pageant to see her q&a. I was proud of her for speaking her values but at the exact same time I said to myself, "she just lost the crown." Unfortunately we live in a world that does not hold our views and our views are the only ones that are not tolerated.

LOVE the flippers!!! Wish I'd been tuned in and caught the frenzy!
Politics and especially being "politically correct" have gotten WAY out of hand!!
